BONTRAGER
Working out of his California garage in the early 80s, Keith Bontrager developed a reputation for crafting some of the finest handmade bicycle frames and components around. Keith's mantra was simple: strong first, light second. Today Bontrager offers a full range of road and mountain bike components, all rigorously tested to meet Keith's stringent standards for fatigue and impact strength, and all firmly grounded in Keith's no-nonsense design philosophy, valuing performance and usability, not fads and gimmicks. |

BROMPTON
What can you say about Brompton - the superlatives just run out... Undoubtedly THE most compact, well designed and durable folding bike on the market, the Brompton continues to develop in an evolutionary manner- so there are no real "year" models, just continued refinement of the perfect design. Despite its diminutive size, the ride quality of the Brompton is remarkably good, and the steering is especially quick - making a nimble and highly manoeuvrable bike. Portability is king: If you need to deal with a flight of stairs or a railway platform, just part fold the bike, and carry or wheel it the distance. Fancy a coffee or need to put your bike inside for safe keeping - no problem, full-fold and it is small suitcase sized, and you cant reasonably be refused access anywhere. Live in a top floor flat? No problem, a Brompton is light and small enough to carry up the stairs. As well as the bikes, there are a range of useful accessories that can be fitted to the bike, or used to store and cover the bike. The only area in which we recommend diverging from what Brompton offer, is in choice of front lights. There is now a fantastic range of "be-seen", to "Wow, I can see the World" LED lights available - some in rechargeable form, to suit every need. For help and advice to guide you through the myriad options of the world of Brompton its best to pop in the shop, although we are also happy to send a bike to you in the post if you know exactly what you want beforehand. In fact its one of the few bikes we are happy to send by post as it "works from the box". Due to this factor we send many Bromptons to mainland Europe, especially to the towns in Holland, Belgium, and the Pas De Calais area in France, such as Lille, Antwerp, Brussels, Gent, Delft and Amsterdam. Look at Brompton UK for the full story on choices and colours. |

TREK
We have chosen Trek as one of our main suppliers not least because they are the biggest bike manufacturer in the world, but also because they have a comprehensive, wide range of types and models to offer.
Treks sheer buying power always ensures their bikes are competitively specced, whilst Bontrager components (their in house component brand) and their own accessories offer everything from cutting edge design to quite simply, great value for money. We are particularly impressed by the Madone road bikes (as used by the Astana team, featuring riders such as Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong), the great FX range of sports hybrids, the new Fuel EX and Top-Fuel full-suspension ranges, and the hard to beat 4000, 6000 and 8000 mountain bikes. They also offer a range of utility models, such as the T30 commuter, the Allant retro-styled bikes, the funky single speed District, and a range of fully equipped "Dutch" bikes - such as the L300 and L400, with hub gears, dynamo lights and upright riding position. We use the Navigator series of "Comfort" mountain bikes on our hire fleet - a testament to the reliability and durability of these bikes. All Trek bikes are available with a choice of WSD (Women Specific Design) models, which have adapted frame geometries and female specific components such as handlebars and saddles - all designed to ensure good fit, ergonomics and comfort. Last, but not least, Trek make a great range of pavement and youth bikes, from the Mystic and Jet in 12" and 16", the MT60 and MT220 in 20" and 24" wheels. With their youth fit brake levers, to the "Dialled" two pedal choice position cranks, they offer good fit as the child grows - enabling you to get the best value from the bike. We dont stock everything form their range, so if you dont see a model on our site that suits you take a look at Treks website (listed below). Trek bikes may be ordered on line, but must be collected in store, a policy Trek introduced in 2008 to ensure you get a well built bike, that is correctly sized and adjusted to fit you - a policy that dovetails exactly with our own aim to serve you best. |

NITEFLUX
All NiteFLUX rechargeable lighting systems are designed in Australia by experienced designers and engineers who actually ride. NiteFlux products do the job with performance and reliability to spare.
Constant Watt Technology (CWT)
Constant watt technology means constant brightness throughout the entire ride. CWT is built into every 2007 NiteFLUX rechargeable lighting systems.
Normally as the intensity of light significantly drops off with the natural decrease in voltage that occurs in the battery over the first 20% of the battery discharge cycle, as the battery progresses through its discharge cycle the intensity of the light continues to drop following the curve of the battery discharge.
Non - CWT lighting systems are getting tired when you are, so just when you need more help your light is losing light intensity making your job even harder.
With NiteFLUX's CWT function this will not happen!
Conversely the NiteFLUX CWT function keeps the power output at the most efficient predetermined level; most batteries depending on the sophistication of the charge management will over charge the battery which can lead to the battery holding extra voltage. For example a 6volt battery could be holding as much as 7volts after being charged, if this over charged battery was then connected to 6volt Halogen lamp it would be over-volted in the first part of the discharge cycle, some of our competitors lighting systems are already likely to be over-volting the light source so when battery is connected the extra unregulated voltage can do long term damage, reducing the life span of light source. |

SCOTT
Scott bikes are based in Switzerland and their attention to detail in the design and testing of their bikes is legendary - not only that, but their designs and graphics always look cool, and very distinctive. Scott are market leaders in the production of carbon framed bikes, from the super fast Addict road bikes (as used by Mark Cavendish of the Columbia / High Road team), the Scale hardtails (read the reviews!), and the Spark, "All New" Genius and Ransom full suspension bikes.
But its not all carbon bling............... The Sportster range of off-road capable hybrids are without doubt the best in category, being properly designed for the rigours of trail riding, whilst being fully capable of adding racks and mudguards for commuting or touring. If youve only got room for one bike in your life - this is the one. Scott also make a good range of womens specific designed bikes - check out the Contessa 50 through to 10, Contessa Scale, Plasma and CR1. The Scott Voltage series of mountain bikes are a young lads dream - short and tough for messing around on dirt, yet light enough and with enough gears to track, trail and get to school on - and with street cool looks! And theres always a great looking and light youth bike, so your youngster can look the part alongside you on the trail. |
